When choosing a free template, fill it with your own information and inspect the result. Short demonstration text is not the same as your work history. Look for enough space, readable type and clear headings. More colours do not mean a better document.
Review the usage terms too: saving, export and package features may differ. Do not shrink text excessively to reach one page. Open the final file on a phone and check the employer's format requirements. A simple, useful structure is preferable to decoration that interrupts reading.
